1 | London Oktoberfest

The capital's biggest Oktoberfest party sees tents with (laderhosen clad, naturally) house bands playing traditional Bavarian music; delicious eats like bratwurst, schnitzel and pretzels, and a specially brewed beer on tap. It's a family friendly event, so take everyone down on a Saturday afternoon for optimum atmosphere.

18th-21st and 25th-28th September, Kennington Park, Lambeth

2nd-5th and 9th-12th October, Millwall Park, Canary Wharf

2 | Manchester Okoberfest

This Mancunion event is rammed with brilliant German eats (you've not lived until you've tried apple strudel with whipped cream), beer-clanking songs, arm-in-arm dancing and a brilliantly merry vibe that'll have you totally over the end of Summer.

22nd-26th October, Albert Square

3 | Brunel's Old Station, Bristol

The sell-out success of Bristol's 2013 Oktoberfest event means its organisers are super excited to make this year's celebrations even bigger. Sit down and enjoy live Oompah bands yodelling away, while traditionally-dressed waiters and waitresses dish up German delicacies. Be warned, however: this is an 18 and overs event.

10th-11th October, Brunel's Old Station, Bristol

4 | Hampshire's Oktoberfest

It's a full on fun fair at this event in Basingstoke. Pony rides, carousels, craft stalls and even a petting zoo will keep little ones happy, while stalls and tents dealing in German hot dogs, craft beers and traditional cakes are on hand for grown ups.

3rd, 4th and 5th October, Basingstoke Cricket & Sports Ground

5 | Edinburgh Oktoberfest

Schlager music (folk-y, popular, ballard-y type songs) is the main event at this celebration, plus there's more of the same German, pork-based snacks and lederhosen sporting staff.

1st-5th and 8th-12th October, Princes Street Gardens
