Game

The flipside of the vegan movement is a rise in the popularity of game. Rabbit is the new chicken, apparently. Game sales have risen by 63% year on year at Marks & Spencer, while chef Phil Vickery, author of Game (Kyle Books, £19.99), tells us, 'It's sustainable and, on the whole, very good for you.’ he says. His favourite dishes include steamed rabbit pudding and, intriguingly, hare and white chocolate salami. Be adventurous - buy meat you haven't tried before. It'll go well with the kasha.

As studenty as it sounds, microwaving food in mugs is a speedy way to satisfy your sweet tooth. It's huge on Pinterest and no fewer than three books on the subject are published this autumn.
